Time to Talk Day Thursday 6 February 2025
Just 14 days to go until Time to Talk Day…
‘Get comfortable and start talking about mental health’
Talking about mental health doesn’t need to be awkward, and you don’t need to be a professional to support someone. It’s not about having the answers, rather how to listen and create the space for someone to share what they are going through.
This is a chance for us to all be more open about our mental health.
Why is this campaign so important?
- 7.8% of adults reported feeling lonely ‘always or often’ in 2024. Feeling lonely can limit someone’s comfortability in sharing how they are really doing meaning we need to do our bit to instigate mental health conversations.
- 1 in 5 children and young people in England have a mental health problem so it is crucial to normalise having honest conversations as early as possible, to help people navigate tricky emotions.
- In 2023, 6,069 deaths registered in England and Wales were caused by suicide. Checking in with friends, family, colleagues can be the first step in them seeking professional help and saving someone’s life.
What is our plans to mark the day?
After the huge success of our partnership with Keolis Amey Metrolink last year for the mental health roadshows, we have partnered up again to mark this important campaign across Salford Quay’s.
You can find our wonderful team split across two locations in Salford Quays, offering tips on having mental health conversations to members of the public, as well as signposting those that are in need of mental health support.
