Over 50 Miles Cycled During Bikeathon Fundraiser

This Mental Health Awareness Week we got the public moving…

To continue our theme of movement across May as part of our Move in May for Mental Health campaign, we partnered with Keolis Amey Metrolink to mark this important week. Three Bikeathon fundraising events were hosted at local tram stops across Salford.

Our first location was Eccles Tram Stop on the 14th of May, following with Media CityUK on the 15th and our closing event on the 17th at Exchange Quay.

You could find our Mind in Salford fundraising and communications team set with our information stand, the exercise bike and music to bring the motivation! The wonderful team from Metrolink had their own information stand, helping passengers with route planning and safe travel.

Members of the public were encouraged to help us reach our mile targets and were provided with a boost in their mood by getting their blood pumping and endorphins flowing. Participants were asked how they look after their own mental health, with video content captured that is now featured on our social media to allow others to hear from members of their local community.

We had visits from local business workers, families, school groups, local mental health professionals, media students, dog walkers and more! The most important part of this event was spreading awareness of the services that we offer and signposting people for support. New volunteers joined our team too and we can’t wait to have you on board!

A very kind donation was made from Keolis Amey Metrolink of £700. This partnership has truly just begun. Watch this space!

Thank you for all who came along to support the event. You are amazing.
